AI is making it easier to build. Competition is increasing and so is the quality bar. It is no longer enough to have a product that checks the boxes on paper. Design has always mattered. It matters more now.
I co-founded Carrot Fertility and was the founding design engineer at Miter. At both, I worked with agencies and saw firsthand where they stop and where the real work begins. That's what I'm offering you.
Component libraries are great for getting something on the screen. The problem is they all look the same. Within seconds, your customers can tell whether something was built to last or built over a weekend. That first impression is very hard to undo.
The standard alternative is a design agency. The problem with agencies is that they take a long time, something you don't have. But there's a deeper problem: what they deliver still requires significant effort to bring to life. You'll get logos, colors, typefaces, and guidelines — and then you're on your own to convert those into something real. On the product side, they almost never help at all.
I'll do what an agency does — develop your brand, work out the logo, the colors, the typefaces. But then I'll go further. I'll build you a component library, product UI and a website that your team can actually use and start iterating on from day one.
Most agencies are in New York or London. Most run multiple projects at once. That's not how I work. I take on one project at a time and give it my full focus until it's done. What might take an agency three months, I'll get done in weeks. I'll come work with you in person — in your office, in your neighborhood — because the best work happens that way.
The beginning is the hardest part, but also my favorite. Few customers, a vision but not much product. You're asking people to believe in something that doesn't fully exist yet. A great brand gives you credibility you haven't had time to earn. It's the one advantage you can actually control on day one.
